I just ran a successful install, using the vanilla automated install. The install said it finished ok (yeah!) but the home page is decorated with this message: An error has occurred. Unhandled error loading module. Is this normal? I am wondering what the next step is. Which .pdf for example do I turn to now that I have completed installation?

I'm guessing that you loaded version 4.x.  If so, there are TWO connection strings in the web.config... the second one is used by modules as a sort of legacy bridge.  Simply locate and update that second connection string with the same information as the first and everything will look fine.

no, thats not normal. Please check and make sure you've copied all the necessary files over, and haven't missed any e.g. if you're missing resx files as they're used for localisation you will get errors such as this. Please also take a look at the "DotNetNuke Installation Guide.pdf" file in the documentation download to ensure you're meeting all the requirements and correctly applying settings.

Hey, thanks for the fast and helpful responses!

Ok, well, I ran the admin wizard and the problem corrected itself.

In fact, I am gaining an appreciation for just how high a quality a piece of software this really is. Once I got into the Admin functions I see that the whole thing is laid out very intuitively. Wow!

All things told, the installation was a snap.

I just got the exact same thing with v4.0.2 and VWD 2005, logging in as Admin seems to fix it.  As a newbie to DotNetNuke it would have been nice to have been forewarned about the messages, anyway seems fixed now.
