I cant manage to login to a remote Dnn402 db using SQL Express, although I have no problem locally.

Locally I use WinXP, VWD, database is in app_data, connection string is the default:

    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

My remote server is W2003, on which I have also installed SQL Server Express.  I have given user IUSR_WPG full access on the website directory and subdirs.  I get message "user NT SYSTEM/NETWORK AUTHORITY cannot login etc.etc.

Any suggestions please?

Please, surely someone in the DNN community must have tried SQL Server 2005 Express with Windows 2003 and DNN4?

TIA!

unless you have made IUSR_WPG a domain account I think it won't do you a lot of good as it's trying to access the .mdf file on another machine...

My assumption is that this method connects to the .mdf file directly (i.e. through the filesystem rather than a service).  Could you prove/disprove this by configuring your site to impersonate a domain rather than a machine account with permissions on the 2k3 server's .mdf file location ?

Sorry, you have lost me with the technical details<g>  How do I check whether IUSR_WPG is a domain account?  I thought it was created automatically by W2003?

How would I configure the site to impersonate a domain?

Excuse my ignorance!  So far I have just got a DNN4 site running fine on the local XP box, with the standard web.config statement (dymanically attaching database.mdf within app_data folder) as provided by the DNN4 starter kit.  I then ftpd the whole site up to the W2003 host, created the site via IIS, and then ran into the problems that I believe are permissions related.

Hi,
I have successfully installed dotnetnuke 3.0.2 on my machine
I wish to connect to remote sql server by modifying web.config

When I tried to change "SiteSqlServer" key, I received dbo.GetPortals Error

Can anyone help me in this? How do I use remote Sql Server with Local Installation of DotNetNuke?

Thanks in Advance.
