I recently upgraded my server hardware from Windows Server 2000 to 2003. I have both DotNetNuke 3.22 & 4.xx porals that I copied over to the new server. I was able to get my 4.xx portals to work fine but for the 3.22, I had to create a new application pool with a new name. But for some reason the session and/or viewstate keeps randomly dropping by logging in as admin or host.

  • you need different app pools for ASP 1.1 applications and ASP 2.0 applications.
  • did you enable server compression?
  • are your DotNetNuke 3.2.2 and DotNetNuke 4.x.x portals sharing the same domain name? in this case, the cookie gets deleted by design, as there can only be one login cookie per domain (www.myserver.com) and a login cookie in dotnetnuke is as well portal specific.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
