I have a question about the modules that are available.  I am creating a website for my company and we need one that allows user's to log in and upload a resume.  I have found a few that have allowed me to do that but I need one that all of the user's can not see each other's uploads...only the one who uploaded the file is who I want to see their resume.  Does this make sense to anyone?  Can anyone help me with this at all?

Thank you!

With a little configuration, the core User Defined Table can meet your needs. Ask more if you can't get it work because I really lack free time these days.

The above users suggestion should help, but I am not familiar with that module.....I wouldn't be too hard to build a very simple module to handle this type of upload either.  Really only a few hours...

Hi,

I looked around for a module like this for a while, but nothing seems to quite fit the bill.

There is UCANUSE which lets you do file upload which is related to a user, but it dosent easily allow you to make the document accessible via the site.

You could use DotNetJedi's 'Resume' module if you are looking to build a recruitment site (I know Nina Meiers has successfully skinned this and its looks good) but if you are looking to allow others (other than the host or admin) to download the files, this isnt suitable either.

There a couple of smaller modules around which allow 'user files' but they are a bit clumbsy and dont allow you to manage the file without programming knowledge.

I would be interested to hear how the User Defined Table would work...

I also heard that there were plans to include file upload in the core profile, but I havnt heard anything recently.

Anna

Actually I wasn't very accurate about the UDT. It does what you need but there's a great limitation because of the DNN's file control. You may set the permission so that users can only view items in folders but can not upload; however, it can't be done the reverse way, which means you can't grant users permission to upload without letting them see the files. If I can identify the control, maybe the problem is solved.

Anyway, for those who are interested, here's what I did :

After adding UDT to a page, I add a new field called documents with the "Download" type. Then choose the "OwnItem" xsl stylesheet to display. Finally grant registered users permission to add new rows. Basically, it's done, except for the problem mentioned above.

The easiest way in my opinion is to buy a commercial module. The best one I've ever seen is NukeTransfer.Com ; Besides, there's a free one with very basic functionalities called "User Files" from bring2mind.net

Hope this helps.
