I have users who have both the Registered User and Administrator roles. After logging in, I want these users to default to the Registered User role and NOT show the page editing features of the Admin role. This will allow them access to enhanced website functionality without having to deal with page editing information in the way. I will then allow them to switch back and forth between the two roles using DNNMasters Switch User module.

I cannot find a way to set the default role to Registered User...any user who has both Registered User and Admin roles is automatically logged in as an Admin.

Is there any way to control the initial default role a user has when they first login?

Not that I know of.  Just get them to select View in the toolbar which turns off all of the editing features on the page.

A similair option is to pre-set the Control Panel Mode to View instead of the default Edit. Do this under Admin > Site Settings : Advanced Settings - Usability Settings.
