I have an existing Intranet that is completely .NET 2.0. It mostly consists of pages that display SQL results from a DB2 business application in Data Grids or other web controls. These are rarely simple displays, though. Most pages do some data massaging on the SQL results and provide users with custom filtering, nesting etc. I have hundreds of these. Also, they are organized right into the site's navigation using the SQL Site Map Provider. I have a lot of questions about the possibilities and best practices for integrating this data with DNN, which I want to use because of all the great user-driven content possibilities is provides.

I've been playing with DNN for less than a week. (I actually evaluated it a long time ago and moved on, but now I'm back, and liking it a lot better!) In that short time, it looks like my primary options are simple (but creative) linking and iFrame. I want to achieve as tight integration as possible. Anyone used either of these methods to integrate a big site in the past?

Did I miss something obvious? Does DNN have a facility for just integrating an existing Sitemap into its navigation? This is probably the biggest deal to me. I can't imaging having to recreate all those links with the DNN tools.

Finally, I spent a lot of time at local bookstores this weekend and took an in-depth look at most of the recent books available for DNN. Is there anything available that is specifically targeted to corporate Intranets and covers more about best practices with regards to content and organization rather than module how-tos?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Just a note on the DNN books.  Production and lead time on these books is six months or more.  That can be several versions in DNN time.  The 4.x books are written to 4.1 and many changes have occurred between there and the currnt version.  In terms of DNN, printed books are almost a waste of paper since the changes really only get documented in the blogs and forums.
