Hi All

I'm running XP Home & DNN 4.5.3 and following along in the latest 'DNN for Dummies' book which is based on ver 4.4 When I click on the 'Insert / Edit Image' button in the RTE, instead of getting the image gallery dialog box showing the collection of images I can select, I get an 'Image Properties' dialog box. It's quite different and I can't find any references on how to use it to select an image to insert. (I would include a screen shot of what I get but there is no way to do this). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Gary

Hi Gary,

Firstly thank for grabbing a copy of the Dummies book - it's very exciting to know it's out there on peoples desks. :)

I'm guessing you are using the FCK Rich Text Editor which is a bit different to the RTB Editor, but has most of the same features. Here's how to insert images using the FCK Editor:

  1. Click the Inser/Edit Image button to open the Image Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Browse Server button which will open all of the File Manager folders you have access to.

Also check out the Link tab on the Image Properties dialog which lets you browse to and set file/url/page links as well as set the target.

Hi Lorraine

Thank you for responding. And thank you for taking the time to share your expertise through the Dummies Book on DNN. Us rank beginners need all the help we can get

Your directions helped me figure out my problem. I'm using IE (ver 7) which now includes Tabbed pages. This creates a problem for inserting images. When you click the browse button in the image property dialog box, it opens the image gallery in a tab. In my case the tab window was not the active window  and it was impossible to tab to it because the image properties dialog box would not relinquish control. I got this last night before I posted. I didn't even know that I was supposed to get the image properties dialog box instead of the image gallery ... so I thought I'd messed up the installation somehow.

Anyway, I removed the tabs as follows: Tools menu, Internet options, tab settings, check 'always open pop-up in new window'  I also had to enable pop-ups for DNN. I did this by: Tools, Pop-up Blocker, Pop-up Blocker Setttings, and in 'Address of Websites to Allow' textbox add 'localhost', press Add button.

Now I'm on my way again.

Thanks a bunch.

Gary
