If you enable it, it will require the browser to use 128 bit encryption anytime that a page in that website uses SSL which includes all DNN portals running on that same website/ dnn install.

It does not force all pages to use SSL though (which is another setting in IIS).

Possible alternative if you are having SSL problems...

SSLRedirect is an excellent add-on for SSL securing DNN web pages.  SSLRedirect provides the flexibility of using Regular Expressions to define which web pages should be SSL secured.  SSLRedirect also provides an output filtering feature which assists in eliminating the mixed content message sometimes received when flowing from HTTP to HTTPS web pages.  SSLRedirect is the ONE SSL enabling component which works equally as well with native ASP.NET apps as with DNN apps.  SSLRedirect also works with single domain SSL Certificates or wildcard SSL Certificates.

John,

I must be blind, because I don't see how to require 128bit without turning on SSL for the entire site (as your link shows).  Am I missing something?

This was a duplicate post.

Forums are really slow today.

You're right.  I thought those were seperate settings but I guess you do have to make SSL required first when setting it in IIS.

You could check it on a page by page basis without making it required in IIS by checking the server variables collection though.

Request.ServerVariables("HTTPS_KEYSIZE")
