I am recieving this error after making changes to the web.config file.

I downloaded the install 4.05.05 version and transfered the files to my hosting server. The tech setup a MS SQL 2000 database and gave me the address, etc. I have tested the database connection and it connects.

Please find at the bottom my new config.web file and help me with any changes that i might need to make to get dotnetnuke up and running on my server! Thanks!

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

my web.config file:

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express

    <add

      name="SiteSqlServer"

      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"

      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 -->

    <add

      name="SiteSqlServer"

      connectionString="Server=thissite.com;Database=dkdb;uid=user;pwd=pass;"

      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>

  <appSettings>

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules

    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>  -->

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules  -->

    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=thissite.com;Database=dkdb;uid=user;pwd=pass;"/>

your connection string looks ok, please turn custom error display off as described in issue text and post the message you get.

I turned off the custom errors and then recieved an error for the following code. I have now commented it out.

<appSettings>

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules

    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=thissite.com;Database=dkdb;uid=user;pwd=pass;"/>

-->

Now I am recieving this error:

The type initializer for 'DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider' threw an exception.

Is your site set for the 2.0 version of the framework?

Ensure that you only have 1 definition for SiteSqlServer in the connectionstrings section as well.
