Help,

I have a DNN 4.02 site running my website on a MS Win 2003 Server Ent w/sp1.  My mail server is at a different location and is handled using mail.mydomain.org.  If I put mail.mydoamin.org in the SMTP server settings email test fails.  If I leave it blank it goes through but ends up in my badmail folder.

How do I setup DNN and or My server to send email using my smtp server (mail.mydomain.org)?

-Thanks For The Help

Bryan

The mail server is rejecting the request to use it, probably because the email specified for the Host account ( Host Settings ) is not a valid email address on that SMTP server ( which makes it look like an attempt to relay, for SPAM ).  Make sure that the host email address ( which is the FROM for outbound mail ) is valid on the smtp server.

The reason the other works is because it's using the SMTP service on the web server to send the mail... but since its not properly identified as a mail server ( to the outside world ) it gets flagged as SPAM.
