I want to provide auto login facility to user by mining their IP address and want to assign some roles automatically

Can you help me out in these situations?

I don’t want to try the windows based authentication please give me idea about this.

I would also like to get auto login working for my companies users, so that they do not need to login manually. This idea would work for me, if anyone knows how to implement it. So come on, let's hear some ideas!

I have the same problem; I cannot use DotNetNuke because I need automatic IP address login for some users !

Laurent and Mike have you looked at the Active Directory provider? If you're using this for an intranet and your company uses Active Directory then this is probably the easiest route to go.

It's simple enough (well, relatively simple) to write code to say these IPs log in automatically but then you have to be able to get the users information. How do you know what password to give them (in case they go to use a computer that isn't in the IP range)?

Hi Mike,

First, please do not look at my English... I am French

My problem is a little different :

I provide information for Universities and big accounts (say about 600 customers). I cannot create a portal for each.

What I would like to do is associate an IP address range to a defined user so that when a user is accessing the Site, it is automatically logged to a default user depending of its ip address.

All in all, I just want to limit access to my Site to authorized IP Addresses; but I need to have a subscription end date for each IP Address range.
