I am probably the thickest bloke on earth.. I have somehow managed to do something bad that has caused my installation to redirect me back to my home page whenever I click the logon button.  Is there an easy fix for this that anyone knows of?

thanks

Ohh  That stinks (not what first came to mind).  I could tell you how to fix it but unfortunatly You have to be able to log in as admin to do it.

Try this, but there is no garrenty that it will work.  I just found it in the database and don't want to try it myself.  :)

Get in to you database and find the table called Portals.  There is a field called LoginTabId.  Delete the contents of the field and then try to log in. You should end up with it saying the value is <NULL>.

Good Luck.

It stinks bad alright.  I did manage to find another thread that also recommended editing the database and setting the LoginTabID to a <null> value, which I did.  It fixed the problem and allowed me to login as admin again, which was good, but somehow, the admin drop down list has now got double icons, one of which is normal and the other which is the boxed red cross.  I gave up on it and as I had only started to build the site, decided to wipe the lot and start again.

Thanks for the feedback, I can confirm that editing that table in the database does work.

Can post the link to the other Thread? I have a similar problem. I simply can't wipe & type my site to fix this..
