Hi,

I've installed DOTNETNUKE 4.0.2 on my pc. I'm running it as http://localhost/DotNetNuke/Default.aspx. Its working fine.

But when i try it from other PC as http://7z66c5/DotNetNuke/Default.aspx where 7z66c5 is my system name the link in the URL is changing to http://localhost/DotNetNuke/Default.aspx . and as it won't be on the other machine i'm getting error as PAGE CANNOT BE FOUND.

Why my system name 7z66c5 is getting changed to localhost as and when i hit Enter button after typing the link in URL.

what might be the problem ?

This is due to the fact that your portal alias is set to localhost only.  Log in as host and go to --admin--site settings-- and scroll to the bottom --Portal Aliases-- add your URL www.???????.com  if you have one and your ip ???.???.???.??? , then your site should work.

Hi aarontoboyek,

I've done jst as what u told.

HTTP Alias
localhost/dotnetnuke
Edit 7z66c5/dotnetnuke/default.aspx
Edit 128.1.1.184/dotnetnuke/default.aspx

after doing this when i try this link on other pc it is again changing to local host and trying to get installed on that PC

Take off the /default.aspx. Portal aliases should to point the DNN (web site or virtual directory) root only.

Also of note as you move forward, if you are using a site with a www subdomain, don't register the www. For instance, www.dotnetnuke.com is registered with a portal alieas of dotnetnuke.com. DNN accepts an assumed (and optional) www prefix for ease of management.
