OK, I have set up a DNN 4.62 site, using the DNN standard portal skins and containers.  I've experimented with a bunch of the controls, figuring out how to edit text, titles, add pages, events, etc.

Now, I'd like to modernize the UI a little bit.  Where would I go to learn how to do something as seemingly simple as moving the menus to the upper right-hand location as they are on the http://www.dotnetnuke.com site?  How did they create the "downloads", "directory", "forum", etc. buttons ?  I don't mean creating the graphics, more along the lines of how did they create linked buttons beyond the basics?

Are these acts accomplished via skins, CSS, or voo-doo?  I've been having fun learning the enviornment, but now it's time to spruce things up a bit.

Thanks in advance for any pointers to tutorials, documentation, examples, etc.
