I''m trying to add a blog to an existing non DNN website via an iframe. Everything looks OK, but the login function is  not working. I try to login and get redirected back to the original site with no error message.

1- DNN content display OK in a second website via an iframe
2-There is no navigational issues
3- I try to log in using the Login module, via iframe, submit my credentials and get redirected to the original screen where I clicked "Login"
4-No error messages, no nothing...it just doesn't log in.

Has anyone experienced this when framing a DNN site? Any pointers? Thanks in advance.

it depends, whether both application are installed in same domain and where the login redirects to. Sorry, with the given information I cannot give more advice.

-The sites have different domains, but they located in the same hosting server. They are just two folders in the same web structure
-DNN is redirecting correctly after login, no problems with redirection, but the user does not get signed in. No errors given.
-Everything could be summarized to the fact that DNN login misbehaves when embedded in an iframe.

Let me try to explain again.

1- I have a legacy site, example: dallas.com
2-I'm trying to add a blog to dallas.com. I choose to use DNN's blog function and embedded in the dallas.com/blog.aspx webpage via an iframe.
3- So when I open dallas.com/blog.aspx, I'm looking at dallas.com skin with a hole in the center (iframe), that is being rendered by DNN( example, BlogsByDNN.com/blog_for_dallas)
4-I try to log into DNN using the blog function embedded in Dallas.com/blog.aspx  and clicking  "Login"
5-I submit my credentials, DNN process my information and sends me back to BlogsByDNN.com/blog_for_dallas.
6-Note that all this happens within the iframe context.
7-The dallas.com/blog.aspx page remains static and the iframe is the one doing all the navigation. Example, displays the blog, displays the signing box and redirects back to the blog after signing in, it just does not signs in the user.
9-At the very least, there should be an error saying, not able to log you in for whatever reason.
10-I'm starting to think this is a DNN software bug.

I had a similar problem with IE. Solution: allow third party cookies in the IE settings. See thread Login is suddenly broken.

You shouldn't have that problem with Firefox.

Thanks for the info, I have not tried adjusting IE settings, but it all makes sense. Since most of my users use IE, I will have to figure out an alternate implementation. I don't think that adjusting browser settings to access part of my site will make any user happy.

Thanks again!

OK i have figured out my problem. The reason my users are being forced to check those settings in IE-6 is to allow 'Third-Party' cookies, and the reason why my portal cookies are being considered as 'third-party' is that the parent website uses frameset re-direction. Here is the microsoft explanation of the situation:

"Internet Explorer 6 introduced support for the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) Project. The P3P standard notes that if a FRAMESET or a parent window references another site inside a FRAME or inside a child window, the child site is considered third party content. Internet Explorer, which uses the default privacy setting of Medium, silently rejects cookies sent from third party sites." (Source: Session variables are lost if you use FRAMESET in Internet Explorer 6)
