I need to retrieve the data from my database associated with my dotnetnuke site - specifically all the people who joined my site.  I have no idea where to start in order to retrieve this information.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

can you be more specific about your use case - in which format do you need the data, once, frequently or constantly (live access), user profile only?, ...

I would love to retrieve the data in a format that would allow me to open it using excel - so tab delimited would be great; also as a .txt file would be manageable.  I am looking for the user profiles - with names, addresses, email addresses, etc.  i don't needt the content, images, etc. that make up my site.

you can browse the database with sql server.  Its just an sql database.

Table "Users" has all the basic user info.

UserPrifle - this table has UserProfile information  you can join that information by userID key in both tables.

UserAuthentication - not sure this is probably the table for users to be authenticated.  check it out yourself see what this one does.

Once you know what data you need all you do is simple select queries to the db.  "select * from Users where ......."

hope that helps

Here is a step by step if how to get your data then.

1) Connect to the databse using SQL Server Management Studio (express version free from microsoft.com downloads section)

2) Query DotNetNuke database with following

select * from Users inner join UserProfile on Users.UserID = UserProfile.UserID

' add your own where clause if you need to restrict certain profile properties.  this is one to many relationship.

' After that once query is ran you will see a grid on the bottom with the results of the query.  Right click the grid and choose Save As.... it will give you plenty of options of file formats to save to.

That should do it. :)
