I'd be very happy if someone can help me with the following:

I have an Internet portal with DNN 4.4 and would like to add alternative authentication. If the login module cannot authenticate against the DNN users, I would like it to authenticate against an external directory. I currently have a URL that passes the loginname and password and returns a Yes or No. If this authentication is successfull, the portal needs to enter using a predefined DNN user.

This would allow all employees to access certain information at the portal without having to remember different passwords.

I must add that I have limited knowledge of ASP.net. Basically the guy who developed the portal is no longer available. And I have trouble finding someone who can integrate this.

Maybe this should be its own thread, but is there a way to get DNN to authenticate against a custom provider?  We are considering moving an ASP.NET 2.0 site to DNN but can't lose our existing authentication system.
