Hi,

I would like some help on the selection of a good email program to send large amount (> 50.000 emails in couple of hours) in the DNN environment. Since the DNN mail is to simple, I am looking for a tool that can also handle bounces mail, give some statistics and optin/out. I have come across:

1) Email manager 2.6 Enterprise Edition; I need somebody to install it.

2) Onyak ? What module is it and is it similar to The Email Manager 2.6 ?

3) Other variants? Why is DNN not using an DNN Module ? Similar DNN does not use their own shop, but ASPStoreFront?

If you are using Email manager 2.6 and know how to install it, please make a post since I need somebody to install it on my server and to show how to use it to avoid that you get blacklisted. I have a packages of functional requirements that should be met.

Any help is appreciated.

J.

I have tried Email Manager as well as Onyaktechs module. Both have major design flaws in my opinion. If you don't need to integrate into them or control the scheduling of when the messages are delivered, then they may be suitable for you. Email Manager is more polished than Onyaktechs and can handle bounced emails, though I don't know how well.

I have built my own solution which looks very similar to SQL Server Notification Services. It's highly scalable and personalizable. I don't have support for bounced email handling yet, however. That's something I want to integrate shortly.

If you have other questions or are interested in discussing helping me extend my solution so it meets your needs, email me at chris@freeswapper.org.

I strongly recommend NOT to send that amount of email from DNN. While it is technically possible with the modules you mentioned, your delivery rate will suffer and the IP of your mail server may even get banned outright ... it's not worth it.

Why not gather emails via DNN and then export to csv, xls or similar and then import to an email marketing provider such as CampaignMonitor?

Thanks for your replies. I think the price of the Campaign software mentioned is too high for my needs. That is far over what we are actually paying for a third-party tool already. My philosophy is that there is one platform with various software modules. I am still rather curious why the DNN team itself is not using a DNN module to send their newsletters.

I have received feedback from the makers of Email Manager and they confirm that the 50.000 per 2 hours is far too high and will lead to blacklists. I put forward this to indicate that I am looking for something multithreading and capable of handling large amount of emails. I have also have an interesting offer from them to do the complete installation. I am looking for such approach since I do not rather like to build own software and/or customize the software myself if somebody else can do better. If some features are missing I am willing to pay this company to implement them since it will improve their software and help me in filling in the needs of my customer. Thank you for the feedback that Onyatech is missing bounced emails. I really need that. Next week we will do an inventory of requirements and if you are interested I will post them so you can add your experience of other products. The comparison matrix will show which software meets the requirements best. Based on this inventory you can also extend your software to meet demands better.

I will keep you posted. Thank you. If you have any comments on email software, please let me know.
