Hi,

Is there a way to measure the traffic (Mb's) each of the portals on a DNN server is generating in a given period?
I would use this metering to calculate the attribution of hosting costs over the different portals.

Any hints welcome.

  1. Use a stats package that can split a single log file into different sites.
  2. Put each portal/site in its own IIS site and then use a log analyzer package on each set of log files

Antony,

It is the way I had planned on doing it at first, but I was wondering if there is some support from within the DNN environment.
If not, I'll be using AWStats and filter on the %virtualname property.

Thx,
Paul

There are some 3rd party modules that run stats using the data from within DNN, but I think the more accurate way is to use the IIS log files and a 3rd party program.

SmarterStats can also filter on the host header like AWstats.  One thing I haven't found is a package that can group the stats for a site that uses multiple Host headers/ Portal Aliases.  Can AWstats do this?

Using AWStats, you can run different statistics on the same log file; for instance, I run statistics for each of my customer's portals using their hostname as a filter, but then I have one additional config file that groups all hosted portals. This additional config file just has all the host names listed in the HostAliases entry and that assures you have grouped statistics.
