Reposted as its own thread:

We are considering moving an ASP.NET 2.0 site to DNN but can't lose our existing authentication system.   Is there a way to get DNN to authenticate against a custom provider (not AD, some weird home grown thing we built because we hated the built in membership providers)?

Thanks!

All I can suggest is looking at the current providers (DNN, LiveID, OpenID, and AD) to see how they've been done and use them as a template for your custom provider. I know this will be difficult because the source for LiveID and OpenID haven't been released yet but the DNN version is part of the code and the AD one can be found at http://dnn.gmss.org until it's released here on the DNN site.

Try the open source SSO module at http://opensource.indyneinc.com/home/DevX/Articles/SingleSignOn/tabid/99/Default.aspx.  The module supports login using account from external db.
