You have installed the files and the SQL database has been created. Has the web.config file been updated to connect to your database? Can you hit your site?

A very general guideline of installing DNN remotely:

First, be sure that your host give you a way of adjusting folder/file permissions.  Also, do not install previous versions of DNN if you can avoid it.  There is much more prep-work involved in the install process.

  1. If necessary, create a remote directory.
  2. Transfer the DNN installation files from your PC to the web host directory.
  3. Adjust the file/folder permissions for the directory.  If the host is running Win2k3 Server, give read/write/modify permissions to the "Network Service" account, otherwise use the ASPNet account.
  4. Try to navigate to your site.  You should be faced with an install wizard that will walk you through the remainder of the process.

Also, here is a good guideline by Mitchel Sellers:

It would be virtually impossible for most of us to give you a detailed explanation on how to perform each step as there local and remote variables that can and will change any or all of steps dramatically.  I highly suggest that you read through the link I posted above.  That will definitely give you better insight into what is needed to be done.
