I have a bunch of PDF files duly referenced in an external SQL database table.

I can view the data on the DB table throug a third party module and have no problem linking to them as long as they are not part of my DNN site. I would like to batch import them in DNN and make the files visible to registered users only. The problem is:

1) I have no idea what the correct batch import method could be. I simply copied the data in a new directory I created with the File manager (I gave the proper user access by selecting the Registered users box).

The problem is linking to the file... I just can't figure out the right syntax the link should have.

I would appreciate any help on this

The files stored in portal root are stored in the /Portals/0/ folder where 0 is the id of your portal.

So if your PDF's are in the Documents folder in your portal root and your portal id is 0 and your domain is mysite.com. You would use the following to link to testdocument.pdf

http://www.mysite.com/Portals/0/Documents/testdocument.pdf
