Site has several pdf documents that the client wants to make available to registered users.  My question is how to set this up.

1> I have the pdf's in a file folder visible to registered users.  If they are not registered, all I get is that they do not have permission to view the file.  I need them to be redirected to a login page so they can register.  After login or registration, they need to be redirected to the pdf file.

I just can't see how this can be done.  Can anyone give me step by step instructions or a link to a tutorial?

You may like to make the module which holds the PDF's as being only visible to registered users and instead have instructions on the page telling users to register/login to access the documents. You could include a link to the login page, or add an Account Login module to the page with the PDF's.

Administrators can also set 'Redirect After Login' under User Accounts - User Settings. See http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Documentation/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/2209/cid/251/Default.aspx

Administrators can also create their own login page if you want to add messages about registration/login to access PDF's on that page. See http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Documentation/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/1754/cid/238/Default.aspx

I hope this solves your problem, let me know if I have missed something.

g-

one way to do it is to add a repository module to the page and use that to host the pdfs or use the documents module - make that visible for registered users - then add a text module telling people to login or register to download files and make that one visible to unauthenticated users only

that way untill they log in they see a message that they need to log in first -

If that isnt good enough there are a few modules on snowcovered that will take care of some of that - I suggest Peter Donkers - Document Exchange Pro 4 - it is a good module and well written - might be too much though

Another option is to write your own (Snowcovered is a good bet though)
