Hi,

I'm using DNN 4.7 and have experimented with various combinations of gzip compression and cacheability.  I'm finding that when I use IE (have tried both IE7 and 6 on two different clients), every element of the page is transferred when I access the site from a new tab, for example.  In fact, I've seen it reload every image etc. within the same session before (during an automatic refresh of the page using the native backup module, for instance...).

With firefox, I can start a new tab and access the site, and it clearly isn't downloading the images again (confirmed with firebug).

Ideas for why this would be and what I should check?

Also, I recall when reading a whitepaper on ISA Server that clients / proxies will not cache compressed content served from ISA.  Is this the case here too?  I'm working with some pretty thin WAN links here and am trying to optimize wherever possible.  Any pointers to good references on optimizing DNN in this manner would be appreciated... until then, I scour the forums.

Oh- also, enabling compression within DNN doesn't take care of doing so on the IIS side, does it?

Thanks much,

Kel
