Hi

I am looking to migrate my old legacy IBuySpy portal to Dotnetnuke.  The only thing that is left is to migrate the user data.  Is this easily done?  I have been investigating the users system and it seems to be non-trivial to do.  Any ideas?

Kind Regards
Ray

Hmm... the issue is really in population of the data into the ASP.Net membership tables ( with the attribute blob & encryption on passwords ).  Honestly, I would take a look at some of the User management tools that folks have built as add-ons... like the one below? ( not an endorsement )

are there any "cheaper" alternatives?

A simple bulk insert method should be really easy to implement, just something that repeatedly calls exisitng functions...

well, there is another module as well:

and there used to be a "gizmo bulk user registration module" but i can't seem to find that anymore...

There is also a module called MZNS.Import. I think the website is down for now, but I have a copy of the module. It's free....

The module will import users from an Access database, and put them into roles, and send a notification if required. Quite flexible really, and has done the job for my migrations from DNN 2-->3 and 2-->4. It also sets up the password for you.

Let me know
Roger
