Hi all,

I still can't create child portals. I'v spent the last 3 days tritng to do it on 3 different computers,
in 3 different DNN versions (4.6 to 4.8) and I always get the same thing - 404 - page not found.

the stages I do:

1. host->portals

2. add new portal.

3. choose the child portal radio button

4. enter a name in the portal alias (after the local host) like   "localhost:1752/DotNetNuke_04.08.00_install/ChildPortal1"

5. give a title, a description, choose the dotnetnuke template,

6. fill out all the security settings.

7. click "Create Portal"

then I get an error saying that the mail is not in a valid format but that the portal has been created.

I try to go to the portal and get a 404 - page not found.

in the folders of the solution, I see that there is a new ID under the portals folder as well as a new folder under the portall name.

how is this resolved?? has any body seen this befor?

it's a real go-no-go in our project.

Hi Shawn,

I don't understand the first Q -  what is the alias table? if you refer to the place where I gave the alias name than it is fine.

regarding the second - yes. it works fine.

there is another post with the same problem - but no reply - maybe it's a know issue?
