I have a site which I set up in development as http://new.mydomain.com (the virtual directory pointed to a subdirectory www.mydomain.com/dnn

now the site is live, I have added a http portal alias record www.mydomain.com/dnn & a default.asp page in the root of www.mydomain.com to response.redirect to www.mydomain.com/dnn.

The problem I have now is that every page with a link or an image is now pointing to the wrong place...

where it linked before from e.g. http://new.mydomain.com/portals/0/images/...  it should now read www.mydomain.com/dnn/portals/0/images/...

however it reads www.mydomain.com/portals/0/images/... which is obviously wrong.  I presume that I will have to go through every page & change these...

it seems that the link dialog box is putting a / at the start, and ignoring any portal alias I have entered.  Should I remove the / from the start of any link in the link to dialog, or put a /dnn/... before all links (in which case it will break the original http://new.mydomain.com link?

Is this a bug, or just something that I have trapped myself in a corner with?

Chris

Hi Chris-

I would not recommend running DNN in a virtual directory for that very reason. If you use a top-level domain name, you will always be working from the same root level.

To help with your problem, you will need to change all the links. Here is a free module that will help http://www.engagemodules.com/Modules/EngageF3/tabid/64/Default.aspx -- it can do a search and replace within your content for you.
