Unforunately, I have not experienced either issue.  Hopefully, someone else will chime in and be able to help with those specific issues.  Sorry.

I too recommend upgrade from 4.4.1 -> 4.8.0 using the install package (You can see my blog post on upgrade here http://www.mitchelsellers.com).

I have not noticed the specifics above, but for keiths issue I wouldn't be surprised if the error was due to a processing limitation by the host....

I would certainly trust the judgement of fellows like Mitchel and Sebastian over most people in the forums (for obvious reasons)...  But my question is: Why do we even have an Upgrade Package if the best and brightest in the DNN world suggest to NOT use it?

The upgrade package is designed to upgrade just the DNN core files....but that doesn't upgrade any of the modules....

Also, at least in previous versions (4.4.1 and 4.5.0 come to mind) the upgrade packages were missing critical files that would make an upgrade unsuccessful.

That is interesting to know.  I wonder why the Core Team doesn't just drop the Upgrade Package altogether then.  I guess the Core Team releases the Upgrade Package for those that do not wish to upgrade their modules automatically (like me).  Perhaps that is reason enough.

I for one do not like to automate installation of modules like that.  I have had conflicts in the past and perfer thorough testing of modules so that rolling back an upgrade or installation is easier to do.
