Before upgrade to 4.8 database transaction log could stay 1 MB for days before growing.

After upgrade it's growing by the minute. It reaches around 40 MB in one day! I have to truncate transaction log by the end of every day so that it does not eventually consume all the hosting space.

Number of page views is the same as before. Disabled events log - nothing changed.

Does anybody experience similar simptoms?

Do you know what the new transactions are in the transaction log?  You might be able to see what happens by using the SQL Server Profiler to monitor the database for a few minutes.

I'm afraid I don't know how to do this...

The database is at my hosting provider server. I can make database backup at any moment. Can I find something out by using backups?

Hmmm...  That is a great question.  I am not sure how to handle this from a hosting provider.  A database back-up and then restore locally could help.  Then at least you can attempt to analyze the database to see if there is anything out of place.  I would suggest starting with the EventLog table.  Also, would your hosting provider be able to send or give you access to the transaction log?

Typically in a hosting environment I have had very helpful support that was willing to do a bit of profiling on the database for me to isolate any issues.

As mentioned above you could restore locally and attach profiler to it to try and see what is going on.

If you need some assistance let me know.
