I have set up DotNetNuke on a Windows 2003 Server with IIS and MSSQL 2005.  Things seem to be working.  But I have some issues.

DNN is setup in a virtual directory /DotNetNuke_2

Here is my issue.  When I go to www.mydomain.com/DotNetNuke_2/  The address bar in the browser immediately changes to ip.add.ress/DotNetNuke.

I have added both www.mydomain.com/DotNetNuke_2/ and mydomain.com/DotNetNuke_2/ to the host alias in the site settings.

This server has multiple domains each with their own IP addresses.  I added host headers in IIS.

How can I make it quit changing to the IP address in the Browser address bar (happens in both IE and Firefox)?

You could try to remove the alias for the ip address from your site settings.  DNN when having multiple aliases for a domain can sometimes take liberties when assigning them from what I have experienced.

otherwise make sure that your host header values are actually being sent correctly.

Mitch:

Thanks for the reply.  I tried but in my installation the first http alias (must be the default) was not editable.  I did what you suggested though in another manner.  I ran an update query on the database table, PortalAlias, which replaced the http alias on the default.   (I also deleted the other http aliases before I ran the query because I did not want a duplicate entry in the table).

It would be nice if a solution was posted for those that don't have access to the database or are not comfortable running that type of query.

Why?  If they have separate IP addreses, leave the host headers empty.  Host headers are only for when multiple sites must share the same IP and port combination.
