You can add RSS modules and configure them to be seen only by certain users. The problem i can foresee with that is that you'd need a module for each user so for example an Accounts RSS module (assigned so only accounts user can see it) or a customerservice RSS module that only customer service users can see. This means you could have 5 or 10 or a 100 different RSS modules configured for different RSS feeds to be seen by different people, if you log in as Admin you'd see a long row of RSS feed modules.

 

is there a way to get one generic RSS feed module and configure it to show different feeds depending on whos logged in?

I don't believe this is possible with the current module, though it might not be too complex to take the source code (available) and make it do this.
