Ton,

If you have the ability to restart the site I would do so.  If you have file system access, you may restart the site by making an arbitrary change to the web.config file and saving it.  You can also stop and start the site in IIS, or restart the application pool in which your application resides in IIS.

hope that helps,

Ian

Hi Ian,

The whole site is not responding anymore.
I have the site installed on a webhost.
I have acces to the server with a ftp application.
What changes I have to make to the webconfig?
Can I restart the application trough ftp ?

Regards, Ton Hermes

Ton,

You can absolutely restart the site through FTP. Really we don't want to change the contents of the web.config file, but we do want the application to THINK that we changes the contents (because that will cause a restart).  So one solution is to download the web.config file, open it, add a line of white space to the top or the bottom of the file (press enter once).  Then save the file.  This will cause the date stamp on the file to change which will trigger a restart when you upload back to your server.  If you want, you can even undo the change you made and save again (to make sure it is back exactly as it was before).

Hope that helps!

Take care,

Ian

Hi Ian,

It did not help.
Maybe it is better to do a restore of the backup I have?
Do I have to restore the database also?

Thanks for all the help.
With regards, Ton Hermes
