Hi,

I want to add a new profile property with a question mark "?" in the property name via Admin --> User Accounts --> Manage Profile Properties --> Add New Profile Property, but got the error "The property name cannot contain spaces".

Does anybody know why I cannot have a question mark "?" in my property name?

I appreciate your help very much!

Anna

there are limitations for property names - which does not apply for localized captions, you can enter in the second step, when creating a profile property.

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you very much for your quick response!

In fact, I would like the question mark "?" in the PropertyName saved in table "ProfilePropertyDefinition", instead of in the caption entered in the second step. The reason is that we already had it in DNN version 4.3.5., and we want to continue having it in DNN 4.8.0; otherwist it'll be very troublesome for us to change our code.

Can I modify the limitations for property names so that we can use question mark in our property name? How can I do it?

I appreciate your time and help very much!

Anna

a property name needs to follow the naming conventions, but you can use a different localized caption including these special characters even for en-US. This is required, since full localization of properties has been added.
