Is anyone else having problems with the admin or host file manger refusing to show folders that are really there? I have lost the majority of my folders from both file managers. I am also getting errors on the tabs that linked to PDF's that were in one of the missing folders. If I look with a FTP program, the folders and files are still there.

I have done recursive sync in the file manger, I have enabled autosync in the host settings, I have turned on the file sync in the scheduler. But the file mangers still do not "see" these items.  This is in DNN 4.08.00. Is there a trick to fix this?

Yep, I have files in my host root that refuse to show up no matter how many times I sync. The files were placed there on the server but permssions have been applied over and over and they simply will not show up in DNN. I'm still running 4.7.

My question is - What and where is the setting that makes a file invisible to DNN?

I have heard reports of this happening to quite a few people, and users of the documents module especially (since it relies on the file manager).

I am not sure of the end game fix on this, but I know that the following series of events helped on person.

NOTE: YOU MUST BACKUP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE DOING THIS, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS WILL PREVENT FILE MANAGER FROM SYNCING AGAIN, BUT IN SOME CASES I HAVE NOTICED IMPROVEMENTS IN FUNCTIONALIYT!  I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG WITH THIS.  If you have concerns or questions please contact me first, typically via my website or e-mail is best due to the lack of forum notifications!

First of all turn off the auto sync option for the file system, including the scheduled task.

Second truncate the Files and Folders tables.

Then manually run the file sync via File Manager, be sure to check the Recursive box before running the sync.

NOTE: you will need to modify file links in modules that link to files based on file id.

Thanks Mitch for your answer. There are too many files here to find all those links and fix them. I have lots of authors. I think that would greatly upset them. Ive seen this problem mentioned before. Is there another way to fix this?
