Hi,

On our site users must register before being allowed access - which is what we want. (registered users only).

When they register they are sent 'An e-mail with a verification code' (which is ok so far)

The problem is this - we want to verify all new users/registerers to the website first (from the admin). So as to prevent automatic registration approval.

anyone know how to do this please?

regards,

mark richardson

further to the above post,

I'm not sure if the page i need to be in is - Admin >> Security Roles,

but if it is, the checkbox  for 'Registered Users' is ticked for 'Auto' but it seems to be locked and I am unable to uncheck this box.

I am fairly sure the solution to the above should be achieved via Admin >> Security Roles

Overview of Security Roles in DNN :
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Documentation/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/2193/cid/247/Default.aspx

however, the checkbox for 'registered users' is definately 'uncheckable' (kind of locked - no way to un check it)

I have gone to edit settings - but the auto-assignment box is 'grey-ed' out

I can check and un-check the auto-assignment box for subscribers but not for registered users

any ideas?

Simply change the user registration method to "Private" (Admin->Site Settings->Advanced Settings->Security Settings->User Registration). This way, the admin will receive an e-mail indicating that a new registration has been submitted. Admin will then need to open the user account of the user requesting registration and manually authorize it.  Once this is done the user will automatically be put into the Registered Users role.  Unfortunately, there appears to be no built-in way to combine both Verification and Private methods which would give an extra check on the validity of the registering user's e-mail address, etc.

Cheers Bill,

changing the user registration method to "Private" did the trick.
