Hi,

I am using dotnetnuke to create my company's website. I have an existing database which stores all the user information once a user registers on the old website. On deploying the new website, new users will be registering through the new website however I need to store the information in the company's existing database along with the dotnetnuke database. I have a set of stored procedures that allow registration and authentication via the old website. I would like to use these stored procedures through dotnetnuke. Is it possible?? Or is there a better way to add the user info to the existing database.

Kindly Help

Melrine

If you have the store procedures already, one posibility is to re-use them in the database triggers.  Create Insert/Update/Detele trigger for table Users and UserProfile in the DNN database.  The trigger will pass data to your existing store procedures to update your exisitng database.

Another approach would be to develop a custom registration module (by cloning the DNN CORE existing Registration user control)  and update the portal settings to point to a page that has this custom module.  In this custom module, the program will execute store procedures when users register.

You can also modify the CORE registration page but it is not recommended.

hi,

Thanks for the help. I have been trying to update my existing database by making use of the triggers in the dotnetnuke db. However when i write a trigger, the values do not get added to  the tables where the triggers have been created,i.e. the Users and the UserProfile tables.

I ran the same trigger from another DB and it worked fine. Does botnetnuke not support triggers or are there any permissions that I am unaware of?

Kindly help.

Melrine

Maybe you can post the triggers in the forum so others can help you.  Database trigger is part of DBMS and it does not tie to application (such as DNN).

Hi,

I figured it out. It was a database permissions issue. Thanks any way.

Regards
