Hi Everyone.

I am a little bit stuck. All of a sudden my DNN portal somes up with the above critical error message. On the start page I have a number of rss feeds and what I found by googeling around is, that this problem might be connected to some rss feeds.

Problem is, that my portal also misbehaves on other pages, where no feeds are included. In those cases it doesn't come up with a critical error, but the site logo (which should be displayed in the most left top corner) is not displayedat all, and other images are also missing.

No event log entry is written.

My last modification was two days before, the problem occured last night.

I wonder if anybody else has encountered this problem and might remeber what the solution was ?

Any help or hint is greatly appriciated.

Thanks in advance, Tom.

I looked at your site and i found out that at this page at the right side the images are not appearing because at the HTML Source in every img tag is missing the name of the image. Every image's source name is /community/Portals/0/ when it should be like /community/Portals/0/test.jpg. That is why they are not appearing.

Hello DJ Solid,

thanks fr your reply. Your remark about the incorrect image tags pointed me to the database.

The module displaying those images is a Banners module taking the images from the Vendors configuration. And what I found there really frightens me: all configured vendor logos where reset to nothing. Just the logos, all other config data is still in place. The same was true for the portal logo that wasn't displayed as well.

What on earth could modify the database in that way ??? Is there anybody around having experianced vanishing portal and vendor logos as well ?

My start page is still corrupt using lots of News Feeds (RSS) modules. Due to the error (from the subject of this thread) I am not able to get into any module configuration. In case of the News module the Edit Newsfeed links are also missing in the modules menu. I assume, the configuration of these modules is also vanished from the database. I'll have to check in detail.

This experiance feels more than odd, it really removes a lot of trust into DNN...

Any further thoughts or hints are greately welcomed.

Regards, Tom.

Ok, I have figured two News Feeds (RSS) modules getting malformatted rss feeds and in return puzzle my start page. Well, a little bit more of proper error handling (like simply ignore loading and displaying the feed) would be a good addition for a future version. You never know when displaying "foreign" feeds what you get. Getting the page scrumbled from faulty feeds is not what I expacted.

Anyway, that problem is solved.

It still leaves me with the above described fact, that all of a sudden the portal and vendor logos has been vanished from the database.

Maybe there is a connected between the freeds and this. I don't know...

Regards, Tom.
