HELP! I have set up child portals on DNN3.2.2 both on localhost and productions servers. But i don't seem to be able to get a parent running on localhost. Have tried several methods but alway end up with "not found" or "you do not have rights to view" errors.

Does anyone have suggestions or know of any articles on setting up parent portals on local staging boxes. running out of hair.

Gonna need a little more information than that to help... quick, while you still have hair... *grin*

First I really appreciate your time.  setting up a parent portal works fine on the web host or in my local network and i'm aware that i could set it up as portal  0 and make a template. I will be traveling for 3 weeks and won't always be where i will have access to the internet and want to work on a 3 portal website.

I sent up IIS, SQL dev and DNN 3.2.2 on an xp laptop, set up portal 0 no problems. I then created 2 adtn'l virtual dir's and pointed them to the root of the DNN dir. checked the rights. Then tried to create a parent portal.

Explorer coms back with website not found sometimes and with you do not have rights other times and I get no new portal number in the DNN portals folder. I have also just for kicks tried pointing th vir dir in IIS to the portals folder, creating the folder in portals, and not creating a folder for the parent portal of course no luck ( when you do it wrong). The above proceedure worked fine on my desktop and in DNN 3.1

I am using framework 1.1 but I only have XP service pak 1 loaded on the laptop and not 2 as on the desktop.

I suspect that it is not DNN 3.2.2 but something about the setup on the laptop have just run out of ideas on what else to look at and the hair is all gone now.

Thanks again for the time.
