Experienced VB6er, FrontPage, HTML. Relatively new to .NET, ASP.NET 2.0 and brand new to DNN.

I have installed DNN 4.0 on my web host. I have done fairly well on the basic stuff tinkering around.

Now, I have to extend the data captured during User Registration by quite a bit.

What is the best strategy for doing this? I was hoping that this would be configurable within DNN. I don't see it if it is? So, based on what limited knowledge I have, I am thinking that I need to:

  1. purchase a module for such things
  2. Or, edit this on my own
If the answer is #2, can you attach to a DNN site using VS 2005? Is that how you go about editing the base functionality of DNN?

Clearly, I am clueless at this early stage. Any insight into this issue would go a long way toward helping me bridge the neophyte gap.

Thanks,

Jeff

as the membership components are not real trivial and enhancements are announced for the next DNN release, I would definitely advise not to start programming DNN at this corener. There are even free modules like pnc:register from http://desktopmodules.portalfabrik.net

Thank you Sebastien. But wouldn't the UserDefinedTable module be of more use to me. The pnc:register only allows for a pre-defined subset of additional fields. I need many.

Thanks

Jeff
