This answer to this is probably simple but this is the first time I've done this. I think I've done everything right, but something it isn't working out the way I think it should.

I have an established DNN website with my main portal of 0 already on it. I purchased a new domain name at godaddy. I changed the nameservers to point to my host nameserver IPs. Then, in DotNetNuke under the Host menu I choose Portal, add new portal. I keep getting the following error when I click "Create Portal"

Error creating Profile Definitions

But, when I click cancel, this appears

My New Domain Name   0 -1 0 0.00

and then when I click on the pencil to edit I get this error

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalSettings.GetSiteSettings(Int32 PortalId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I checked and a new portal directory is not being created. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help please?

Thanks,
Bee

Apparently some of the templates don't work right. I switched from the portal template to the DotNetNuke template and it worked. I still won't know if I did everything right until the new domain goes into effect. Crossing my fingers!
