1 DNN Install, multiple DNN portals off of that install. I was under the impression that each one was a seperate entity.

I attempt to add a user that exists on another portal with the same username. I get an error message that the username is already in use. I do a search for all users and the person isn't listed.

should I be able ot have the same username on multiple portals from one install, or no?

Thanks,

Rob

Are you trying for a single sign-on between portals? Or are you trying to have seperate users with the same username? Neither is supported out of the box. But the former can be done with either third party user management modules, or by running some sql statements to update the UserPortals table (then assigning the roles you want to the user).

Really? I was under the impression that a seperate portal launched from a single DNN Install was essentially a completly autonomous instance. Infact, I thought I was able to have multipel portals with identical, but different, logins... I'll have to recheck that.

So the different portals on one install are not autonomous?
