My husband, Chris, and I launched this DNN site yesterday morning and have been trying, litterally, all day yesterday and today, to find the solution to this problem. Chris even took the day off of work from his "real" job to try to get the problems/glitches related to the site launch resolved. We've tried everything we can think of, combed through lines and lines of code, collaborated with each other trying to go through the logical process mentally, and we've come up with absolutely nothing. Perhaps we'll have a real kick in the tush when we *do* find out what the problem is -- but here and now -- our brains have turned to mush. PLEASE offer any help you can and, in return, we'll be eternally grateful! :o)
Here is a very strange situation. Please look at the two following web pages using a Safari browser:
http://thegoldenageresource.com/main/ (DNN 4.8.2 hosted on www.discountasp.net, Windows 2008 Server) -- INPROPERLY displaying
http://thegoldenageresource.jupiterinteractive.com/ (DNN 4.7.0 hosted on www.godaddy.com Windows 2003 Server) -- PROPERLY displaying
- Both of these sites are using the exact same skin & css.
- Both of these sites render properly in Safari when running locally in Visual Studio 2005 on DNN 4.8.2 framerwork
- Both of these sites display properly in IE (both locally and online on their hosts)
- DNN 4.8.2 on www.discountasp.net -- INPROPERLY displaying on Safari browser (IE is fine)
- DNN 4.7.0 on www.godaddy.com -- PROPERLY displaying on both Safari & IE browsers
SOoooo....ultimately, what's happening is that www.thegoldenageresource.com gets all messed up when running off of the host, www.discountasp.net, using the DNN 4.8.2 framework, although it works properly in all other aspects.
Where, oh where, could our little problem be????
Oh, UPDATE!!
- We did *something*, don't know what, and now, none of the skins are properly displaying on the discountasp.net site, in SAFARI (IE still just fine). So....it must have nothing to do with the skin.
- As far as modules go, all of the installed modules on discountasp.net are upgraded to latest release version.
- I'm wondering if it could be an IIS issue???
- Chris wonders if there's something on the discountasp.net that accounts for weird things that Safari does. (this is just a theory -- don't know how it would be implemented) because the javascript file for the SolPart menu *does* have "accommodations" for the Safari browser; is it possible that the JavaScript is "overcompensating" for issues that are otherwise somehow resolved or nor recognizing that it's the Safari browser, therefore not implementing the "compensations??"

If there is ANY way at all you could help us with this problem, we would GREATLY appreciate it. We are going absolutely bonkers trying to figure out WHERE the problem could be. Needless to say, our client is not happy. And oh yeah, the reason we MUST have it Safari compatible is because our client just got a new I-book. Sooo.....we can't really talk him out of that!
Much, much thanks,
Chrissi & Chris
