Hello. Weird issue here.  After weeks of trying to get DNN running on Vista Ultimate, I gave up and decided to try to get it installed on our co-located production  server. In about 20 minutes I had success. Our web server is a Win2003 machine running IIS 6.  So anyway, when I type my way to the dnn site like this: http://localhost/dnnsites/default.aspx from the server itself, it runs fine.  But when I try to access remotely using the IP like this: http://66.xx.xx.xx/dnnsites/default.aspx from my laptop (ie not remote desktoped in) , the address I typed turns into this: http://localhost/dnnsites/default.aspx. And I get a page not found error.  I have never seen behavior like this. It happens from any computer I try it on.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks...

You must add a portal alias for the second URL.  You can do this one of two ways.

1.) Login to the site via the local host path as the host user.  Then from the Admin menu select "Site Settings".  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the 'Add HTTPAlias" link, then add the alias for your new domain.

2.) You can manually insert a record into the PortalAlias table for the new URL, after doing so you will need to force a restart of the application for the addition to be visible to DNN

If you do one of the two above, it will work just fine!

If you use 127.0.0.1 as the IP, adding the alias of course, does it work?  If so, I suspect you either are trying the wrong IP or you have a network/routing error.
