I have finished a web project using DNN.  It runs okay on my computers.

I also was able to upload the database to my discountasp.net host and run the project from my local pc but with the database on internet host machine.   That I modified the connection string to point to the db on the Internet host pc.

Aftre that worked, I then proceeded to upload the project to the host so that both site code and db run on the Internet.  Then it does not run.  What do I have to do to the code or db for the project to run on the net?

Hi Vie,

Although your initial description is excellent, for others to be able to help you further, you'll almost certainly need to describe in more detail how your application is failing.  Any specific error messages, if they exist, would also enable the community to be able to better assist you.

Thank you very much. Sir

I decided to upload a new/virgin DNN source to the site.  (Pls note that this is a shared hosting package onthe Internet).

When I browsed to it the DNN Install window came up.  I then select Auto Install and this is the error that popped up:

Vie and oobvious thing to check would be have you added the correct alias for the sites new location to the database.
On your local copy that is connected to the hosts db go to site settings and at the bottom you will notice add alias add the domain name for the new location and see if that helps.

I have uploaded the DNNInstall files to three separate Internet host accounts.

2 (www.imaginationTools.net and www.platinumsavingsandloans.com ) are with web4Africa. The other (www.e-democracyNow.org) is being hosted by discountASP.net.

Using http://www.imaginationtools.net/Install/InstallWizard.aspx or http://www.platinumsavingsandloans.com//Install/InstallWizard.aspx

This error pops up:

server error in '/' Application
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parser error
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Common.Global'.

Source Error:

Line 1: <%@ Application Inherits="DotNetNuke.Common.Global" Language="VB" %>

Source File: /global.asax Line: 1

>>>>>>>

Now when it is http://www.e-democracynow.org/Install/InstallWizard.aspx (that is the site on discountASP.net)

I dont get any error message but the status bar simply shows "Done" and the screen is blank.

Permit me to ask.

?? Which is best for installing DNN to a public hosting package (that windows hosting). Is it the DNNInstall, the DNNSource or by any means the DNNStarterkit?

thanks. this is quite long

..forgive me

Vie
