I am setting up an intranet for a company that has 8 sites.

Mostly the intranet will house documents. Because of their potential size and that it is travelling over a WAN I decided to set up a web farm with a webserver at each site.

The webservers connect to a single DB but the dnn application folder is replicated to and from each webserver using Windows DFS. I did this because  could not get Broadcast replication working.

Q. Is it ok to use DFS to replicate the entire dnn application folder this way and does it affect the caching?

Q. Does this seem a reasonable setup?

The setup seems to work ok but there are a couple of performance issues.

The speed of the websites at remote locations to the database is unacceptable.

The first thing to blame is the network, but other traffic travels quite quickly.
If i load another static html page over the same link with a similar amount of content it is fast.

So i would assume it is the db access part of the transfer. Are there any tweaks that anyone can help out with.

Thanks,

Dave
