Hello all. I know that you can't use Frontpage to create forms due to their file extensions but can you use Word to create forms for DNN? I do not need the form to store data in the DB because I plan on using a external DB to save to when the "submit" button is selected. So, does anyone know if we can use Microsoft Word 2003 created forms in DNN. Thanks for the help.

Hi Michael,

sorry, but you cannot use Word or any desktop application to create a custom form, regardless of the place, where you would like to send the results to. you will need to use a special Forms module, e.g. free Helferlein Forms from www.helferlein.com. I am not sure, if it supports external databases, eventually you will need to use a commercial module to achieve this requirement - there are several and my company offers one as well - if you are interested, please send me an email.

I was going to use ExpressDB but you can't use it will DNN. I would be interested in finding an HTML type form to use. I'm now behind the 8-Ball, both with time and $. The form needs to pool results to an external DB such as ExpressDB for my County Fire & Rescue EMS reporting. Any help would be great!

Mike,

I'm not 100% familiar with ExpressDB but, I believe there might be a simple workaround to get it to work, as long as it doesn't mind a few extra parameters being passed in the form post, otherwise there are a few other simple ways of handling this...

Drop me an e-mail if you want and I can give you a few things to try.
