Is there any known reason for dnn 8.4.2 for making over 100 connections to the SQL Server database at one time or any known bug that would lead to this issue.

3Essentials shut my site down tonight without prior notification due to this issue.

Are you using any third party or custom developed modules? Excessive connections are usually caused by open datareaders. I haven't seen this issue in the core code of DNN in years, but third party modules often have it.

3Essentials felt it was the same as what you state. I had installed a module called the Member Invite module from the CodePlex site that was mentioned in the DNN newsletter today. I uninstalled the module when they turned back on my site. (www.brutusreport.com)

I have also seen some issues with the blog module that have me worried. At times the portal hangs when trying to access a blog entry and I had a blog duplicate itself 60 times when I tried to add a comment. Anyone hear of any blog issues?

Thanks

Are you running the latest version of the blog module?

The DNN core store module has this issue (open datareader)  when handling tax.
