This just recently happened. I have a DNN 4.8.1 with three sites running off it. On only one of the sites, the logo no longer displays.

I logged in with the host account and when I goto the Site Settings for the affected site (other two sites the logo displays no prob) and expand Appearance the section where I should see the drop down for selecting the logo file to display instead I see: You don't have permission to see the files on the site

The abover error is also what I see under the logo setting for Body Backgroun, but everythign else displays no problem when in Site Settings. There is nothing that looks to be related in the logs, and again, there are two other sites (one of them using the same exact skin but diffrerent logo) using the same code and db, and they have no problems.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this might be occurring? I can view the logo file no prob via the File Manager, it is only having issues in the Site Settigns section of this particuliar site. Makes no sense!

Thanks,

Ron

I was having this problem with a site as well. I've not yet tracked down why it is occuring but to fix it I went in and turned off the automatic file synchronization in the host settings, and also disabled it in the scheduler.

Then go to the File Manager and choose the portals/0 folder and click on update of the permissions at the bottom.

Hopefully some time in the next week I can spend some time looking into why this is occuring on that particular DNN instance, I believe there's a problem with either the files or folders table somewhere.

Thanks Chris for the response.

However I am not sure where you are seeing within the DNN File Manager the portals/0 as none of my 4.8 installs show this as an available path to browse to within the File Manager.

I do agree that this looks like an issue in the db and of note, this was an upgraded instance which is where I see db issues the most.

Thanks

Sorry, just go to the Admin/File Manager, the first note in the tree for the file manager should be "Portals"

That is essentially /portals/#/ where # is the ID of the portal you're in.

Yeah you rock Chris!

That did the trick, client is off my ass and it is the weekend which I can now enjoy and not spent tearing apart the site to find the solution on my own. I would not have ventured to guess initially to do what you recommended so again, thanks senior.
