Hello,

I would like to replace the DNN Core Search engine, because I have lots of problem with it (some problems of indexation with Apollo module).
I have seen this website (his search page) and I would like to do the same. But I do not want to create a new page that you can see in the menu; I would like to replace the word "Search" in my skin by a link to a search page.

Is it possible ? How ?
(in addition, that would be great if I can localise the word "search")

You can always replace the Search link in a skin with a simple link to wherever your search page is.

DV,

Your best bet is to modify the skin, and remove the existing skin object, and either hard code in the link value, or code a custom skin object to link it.

You can then create the search page and hide it from the menu.

We created seperate search and result modules in order to implement Google Adwords search in Dotnetnuke. You just create a new page on your site and place the search and result modules on it. You then add the link "Search" to your skin and link it to that page, it realy is that simple.

Now in order to localize the Search link there are various ways of going about it but as I know you use the dslocalization module you could simply do it like this: Change the text for the search link to  something unique like "SearchLocalized" it has to be a term you are sure you will never use in your texts as you will be replacing this with your desired term for each language using replacements. In Dslocalization go to Localized replacements and create a new replacement rule for each language you use and have it replace "Searchlocalized" with the desired term. If you do not select a specific tab the replacement is done sidewide.

Hope this helps.

Mitchell, I like your solution, but I have problems for hard coding the link value or custom object...
I have tried to add in the skin something like {a href="http://mydomain.com/mysearchpage.com"}Search{/a}, but it does not work... Can you help me a little bit ???
