Hi all,

I want to be able to provide a user role with Edit permissions over a page, but only View permissions for some of the modules in that page.
Unfortunately this does not seem possible because once I set that role to be able to Edit the page, it overrides whatever permissions I have set in the individual modules, allowing the user to edit everything. Is this right or am I missing something?

From what I could read on this post:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/45/threadid/170688/scope/posts/Default.aspx
it seems like what I want to accomplish is not possible...

It does seem reasonable that page permissions should override module permissions, yet, that is what my customer needs... :(

So far, I have thought of several options to overcome this limitation:

1-Create custom permissions as suggested in this article:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1052/Default.aspx

2-Create my own module for page creation/edition that can be used for that role, instead of the standard DNN feature

3-Display these modules that I don't want the user to edit as skin objects so that they don't have an edit option

4-Display these modules in some sort of wrapper, like an iFrame so that I can insulate them from page permissions

Does anybody else know / can think of any other way in which I could accomplish this?
Thanks in advance,

Hernan Pablo Chiosso
